Who We Are
Water Mission is a Christian engineering nonprofit that builds sustainable safe water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) solutions for people in developing countries, refugee settings, and disaster contexts. Since 2001, Water Mission has served more than 8 million people in more than more than 65 countries. Headquartered in the U.S., the organization has more than 400 staff in offices around the world and established programs in eight countries in Africa, Asia, and North, South, and Central America.
For more than 20 years, Water Mission has utilized its engineering expertise and community development programming to deliver innovative WASH solutions around the world. In alignment with SDG 6, the organization works towards providing long-term water supply that is free from contamination, accessible, and reliable at both the community and household levels. In partnership with governments and communities around the world, Water Mission structures management models that ensure the financial and operational sustainability of each water system.
Over the next three years, Water Mission aims to provide reliable access to safe water for 3 million customers every day and to bring first-time access to safe water for 500,000 new customers every year. The organization’s goals include establishing three financially sustainable utilities by 2027.
Water Mission has been recognized for its work by leading institutions, including UNICEF, UNHCR, the World Bank, and the IOM. Charity Navigator has awarded Water Mission its top four-star rating 18 years in a row, a distinction shared by only 1% of the charities rated by the organization.
