Water Mission, a Christian engineering nonprofit, has added Karen Hoida, General Counsel and Senior Vice President of the General Counsel and Strategy Office at Compassion International, to its Board of Directors. With an extensive background in leadership and strategic planning, Hoida brings a wealth of knowledge and experience that will support Water Mission’s mission of honoring God by developing, implementing, and sharing best-in-class safe water solutions that transform as many lives as possible, as quickly as possible.
After more than 18 years practicing law, Hoida joined Compassion International as Director of Risk Management in 2012, a role she held for more than seven years. Hoida led the development of the organization’s new Risk Management division. Since that time, she has been promoted to several other roles at Compassion International, including Senior Director of Incident Response and Vice President of Enterprise Execution. In these leadership roles, she continued building critical business operational areas, including global security, environmental health and safety, business continuity, crisis management, investigations, and response and assistance. She currently serves as General Counsel and Senior Vice President of the General Counsel and Strategy Office. Hoida holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of California, Davis, a Juris Doctor from California Western School of Law, and a master’s degree in theology from Iliff School of Theology.
“We are thrilled to have Karen Hoida join our Board of Directors,” said Water Mission CEO and President George Greene IV, P.E. “First and foremost, Karen brings skills and experience to the Water Mission board that are invaluable. Secondly, I am excited for the potential to strengthen the partnership between Water Mission and Compassion International, with the ultimate goal of deepening our collective impact across our global operations.”
Hoida joins the board as Water Mission and Compassion International continue to expand safe water access to those in need. Last year, the two organizations announced a pilot program in Chimwenje, Malawi, to bring holistic care to children and families experiencing poverty through safe water access.
Hoida’s appointment strengthens Water Mission’s Board of Directors as the organization advances sustainable solutions to the global water crisis affecting more than 2 billion people worldwide.
