Water Sunday 2013

October 25, 2012

Last year something BIG happened. 32 churches across the country came together and said “we want to end the global water crisis.” Mega churches, house churches, small groups, and youth groups partnered alongside one another and in total, raised more than $100,000 to provide safe water to four communities around the world. Lives were forever changed. Matanda Orphanage, Malawi “So Water Sunday went awesome… it was really the first time we had done something like this as a church so I wasn’t sure what to expect… Thanks for letting us be a part of this project… I think God really worked in a huge way in our congregation” - Cross Creek Community Church - PA Ilamapa, Honduras All these churches participated in the inaugural year of our Water Sunday program. By utilizing the provided resources, challenging their faith communities to make simple sacrifices, and sharing about how God’s working around the world - their people responded not just out of their finances, but spiritually as they began to see what God could do through them. “We had a fun time with asking people to fast from soft drinks or lattes for a day or week or however long, we had fun mixing up the "dirty water" mixture using peanut butter and chocolate powder, I didn't pass it off that well, the kids were too smart to think I would "actually' drink dirty water - Real Life Church - GA We want to do more. The vision for 2013 is for more than 100 churches to participate in Water Sunday this year and provide access to safe water to more than 33,000 people. WS2013 250x250 web ad faceYour Church can participate this year by giving one Sunday between January and April 2013 to transform lives through safe water. All the resources are available to make sure your church is fully equipped for a Sunday that is as transformational and hassle-free as possible. (You’re going to LOVE the resources - check them out here!) Our desire is that the members of your church would move from being ‘transactional givers’ to passionate people who have been transformed through engaging in the call to care for the thirsty (Isaiah 58). By partnering through Water Sunday, your church will be part of the active body of Christ responding to urgent physical needs with safe water that will flow forever. In addition, your church will be part of providing the Living Water Jesus talks about in John 4:14 for those who thirst spiritually. Engage your church to join the Body and end the global water crisis. Here’s what you can do:
