Water Mission Responds to Earthquakes in Venezuela
Deployment
Water Mission disaster response team members have arrived in Venezuela and begun coordinating with local partners and assessing safe water needs to discern how and where to reach the most people as quickly as possible.
We shipped two water quality testing kits supplied by Hach that will allow us to thoroughly evaluate the quality of water sources, as well as IT equipment that will enable our field team to quickly relay information.
Assessment
Water Mission's Disaster Assistance Response Team has conducted assessments of water sources and potential installation sites across northern Venezuela. We have plans to distribute safe water to impacted communities via water tanks and delivery trucks.
Installation
Our team is installing a safe water system in the La Guaira region. This site will serve as a source to truck safe water to communities in need following the earthquakes. We have identified multiple distribution sites for water delivery, including neighborhoods, churches, and IDP settlements.
Water Flowing
Water is flowing in Venezuela, meeting the needs of survivors in the most impacted areas. We are actively trucking water to various distribution sites, such as churches and schools, where displaced people are gathering.
