Typhoon Haiyan: Thank You!

January 16, 2014
After Typhoon Haiyan devastated the Philippines, Water Missions International quickly mobilized relief efforts. Thanks to our supporters, we have been able to work with the Filipino people to rebuild their lives after all was lost. We wanted to share with you some of the thanks that we’ve received and show you how your support has brought hope for a life after the storm. Typhoon Haiyan Victim Thanks to relief efforts, people like Rose can get safe water. “The Water Missions International team came at an opportune time when we were wondering how we can save our money to meet many basic needs. Just after Typhoon Yolanda left, safe water at affordable price was seemingly elusive to us. Each 5-gallon water container was being priced at $1 from $0.50 by unscrupulous water refill stations and, since water is a primal need, we were left with no choice but to purchase with a grain of salt. “Whenever I look out from my office window and see a big crowd with everyone patiently waiting for their turn to fill up their containers with water from the Living Water™ Treatment System, I thank the Lord for our Water Missions International friends and their selfless humanitarian aid. This brings us new hope for a brighter future in spite of the devastating typhoon that we experienced.” – Rose Survivor or Typhoon Haiyan Now people like Wilma can rebuild their lives. “My family and I are among the repeat users of water from the Living Water™ Treatment System. From our point of view, the water tastes even better that the purified water coming from commercial refill stations. Even if we have to pay about $0.11 per 5-gallon container to the pedicab driver for delivery, we still have a lot of savings compared to the $0.50 pick up price when we buy elsewhere. “Thank you to the people behind Water Missions International for your kindheartedness. May you be bountifully blessed and continue to expand your presence especially in Panay and the whole Philippines in general.” – Wilma Typhoon Haiyan Survivor Families like Roger's can easily enjoy safe water. “I like the water from the Water Missions International system because it is not only crystal-clear, but also chlorinated. This assures me and the entire members of our household that the water we drink is 100% safe. Several times in the morning, noontime, and afternoon, I get water for our family's domestic needs. I have also told my neighbors and friends about the availability of safe water near the municipal building. "Thank you Water Missions International for your help to our community.” – Roger Safe Water After Disaster Lilia can now ensure the health of her children thanks to safe water. “We consume about three 20-liter containers every day and I find it convenient to get my supply for cooking, drinking, and washing dishes from the Water Missions International system. During the installation, I was one of the curious onlookers. After it became operational I was an immediate recipient. Since then, I have been getting my water from the Water Missions International system every day because our house is only 200 meters away. "Before the storm, we used to boil water from our well. Now, even my grandchildren are using the chlorinated water in preparing the infant formula. One of my two children had skin rashes but after regular skin washing with chlorinated water, the rashes had disappeared. "Thank you Water Missions International, for your invaluable help.” – Lilia Thank you for supporting the disaster response efforts of Water Missions International. We'll continue to provide updates about the Philippines as we work with the Filipino people to rebuild after the storm.
