SWIG Supports Water Missions International

We’re privileged to have amazing people support our work around the globe as we fight the global water crisis. This week we’d like to introduce you to Water Missions International supporter Andrea Canberg, founder of SWIG (Safe Water Is A Gift). When the Haiti earthquake struck in 2010, Andrea watched with the rest of the world as millions of lives were forever changed. Something clicked for Andrea and soon after she had the opportunity to respond to the global water crisis through her own classroom at the College of Charleston. Andrea's hospitality and tourism management class flexed their event planning muscles when they took responsibility for planning a gala in support of Water Missions International, which ultimately raised close to $25,000 for Water Missions International.

Last spring, Andrea traveled to Kenya to attend one of our project commissioning ceremonies with her class. This experience only furthered her passion to combat the global water crisis, and Andrea was inspired to start a water bottle company to raise money for safe water projects. She approached Polar Bottle about designing custom water bottles, and SWIG was born.

Today, SWIG sells plastic and steel water bottles to help fund safe water projects by Water Missions International. 50% of all SWIG profits go directly to this safe water initiative. Several water bottles have been designed to commemorate events, such as the 2013 Cooper River Bridge Run.
