The Story of Whitehouse: Safe and Living Water in Jamaica
In October 2025, Hurricane Melissa tore the roof off a small church in Whitehouse, Jamaica, and devastated nearby homes. Despite their loss, people continued to gather for church, praising God for His faithfulness through the storm.
I have seen God as my ultimate defender, and I believe that He has been blessing us in spite of the situation that we are in.
Pastor Keith serves at a church in Whitehouse, a community that experienced immense devastation from Hurricane Melissa.
Millions of people along Jamaica’s southwestern coast lost electricity and access to water due to Hurricane Melissa. Your ongoing support enabled us to deploy our Disaster Assistance Response Team ahead of the storm to prepare for meeting emergency needs.
Within two weeks of the storm, our team got safe water flowing. We partnered with Whitehouse Church of God and Prophecy to provide safe water at a tap stand in the churchyard.
We come in the morning and in the evening, and we catch [collect] water. We drink it. We use it [for] domestic purposes.
Thanks to your generosity, we installed treatment systems in seven locations in Jamaica and trucked water to 42 distribution points, producing more than 1.8 million gallons of safe water and serving more than 59,000 people.
Along with Whitehouse Church of God and Prophecy, we partnered with 28 churches to provide communities with safe water and tools for spiritual and emotional healing. This included seven trauma healing trainings using “Beyond Disaster” curriculum.
Local pastors shared that the training equipped them to help their congregations work through trauma from a biblical perspective. We also distributed 48 Bibles in Whitehouse, as many people shared that their Bibles had been damaged.
Thank you for making it possible for Jamaicans to have access to safe water and tools for healing as they rebuild their lives.
Thank you.... We can’t do without water.
