Safe Water for Communities

Safe Water at School

October 20, 2021
“Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God.”    —Mark 10:14
In Kavingoni Yeemulwa, Kenya, women and children used to walk to collect water each morning and evening. Unfortunately, the water was often unsafe, making the children sick. As a result, the children would miss school and struggle to keep up with lessons.  Nicholas Musembi Nzyoki is a principal at one of the schools. He told us, “Accessing safe water [from] reliable water sources has always been difficult in Kavingoni Yeemulwa. Especially at the secondary school, the institution has to spend a lot of money to get water to the school. The staff travel long distances to look for, fetch, and transport water [for the children].”   This past summer, thanks to the Lord’s provision and friends who support our work, the community celebrated the blessing of a Water Mission safe water project in Kavingoni Yeemulwa. The project includes seven water access points and will serve 2,700 people. Now, abundant safe water flows at the community’s two schools, as well as at two nearby markets and a local pharmacy.
