Safe Water for Communities

Rounding Up Water Sunday 2013

June 26, 2013
"Water Sunday in our church was a success! Glory be to God for His goodness...Everything went well and people were really impacted by what they heard and learned...We can't wait to do this again." - Tasia Gonsalvez, New Testament Church of God Water Sunday This spring, more than 40 churches across the country took one Sunday out of their normal worship schedule to join the fight against the global water crisis. Bringing churches, you groups, Bible studies, and clubs together to demonstrate Christ's command to love our neighbors as ourselves, the Water Sunday movement calls on faith communities to respond to communities around the world that lack access to safe water. Faith leaders ask their communities to take part in a beverage fast and give the money normally spent on sodas and other drinks to support safe water projects for communities in need around the world. Through their efforts and generosity, Water Missions International is able to implement these projects which provide safe water for those who need it most. Then, as these projects move forward, Water Sunday participants are invited to follow the progress through updates from Water Missions International that include photos and testimonies of those receiving safe water. Through their efforts, thousands of people around the world will now have access to safe water, and, even more importantly, the Gospel of Jesus Christ will be shared in a tangible way. Because of this, local pastors whose communities receive safe water are further equipped to share the love of Christ with their neighbors as safe water flows. As a result, opportunities are provided for Living Water to flow into the open hearts of community members. If you are interested in mobilizing your community to join the fight against the global water crisis, we have resources and tools available that will allow you to effectively engage your church. Whether your church participates in Water Sunday or another initiative, it's our desire to see your congregation excited and passionate about what God is doing through the ministry of safe water.
