Our 2016 Impact on the Global Water Shortage

December 27, 2016
Water Mission celebrated our 15th anniversary in 2016, one of many milestones achieved this year by trusting God’s will to work through our safe water charity. As I reflect on this past year – let alone the past 15! – my heart rejoices in the nearly 184,000 individuals who received access to clean, safe water in the last twelve months.  I personally want to share with you just a few of the many highlights Water Mission experienced in 2016 while combating the world’s water scarcity crisis. The following snapshots represent continued progress toward our vision to be recognized as a global leader in transformational safe water solutions. Water Mission named a Best Christian Workplace in 2015-2016. Water Mission was recognized as a Best Christian Workplace where our employees choose to work over other professional opportunities. As an organization, we recognize that investing in highly talented, faith-filled staff will help retain and motivate them to collectively work towards our vision. Our Tanzania team worked closely with UNICEF to install one of the largest water treatment systems Water Mission has ever implemented. Ten systems were installed in a section of the Nyarugusu refugee camp, serving 25,000 Burundian refugees daily. As a result of successful installation and management throughout 2016, the Poul Due Jensen Foundation (parent of Grundfos) recently committed $5.3 million to partner in installing the world’s largest solar-powered water solution to serve 250,000 refugees in Nyarugusu and two other nearby camps. Read more. Water Mission Liberia team with workers at JJ Dossen Hospital in Harper, Liberia. We opened a satellite office in Liberia. In 2016, UNICEF sought our services to install 12 safe water treatment systems in hospitals and health clinics to provide healthcare workers and patients access to safe water. Six of the 12 projects have been completed, and the remaining hospitals will have safe water in early 2017. According to Dr. Obiazi Francis, a general physician who has been working at the JJ Dossen Hospital for four years, “Now, we can actually bathe our newborns and properly cook our food with water.” Read more. As 2017 approaches, I want to thank you for your engagement and look forward to accomplishing even more together. May God bless you abundantly in the New Year! Molly F. Greene Co-founder and Chairman of the Board P.S. We covet your prayers for Water Mission activities. If you are interested in other ways to engage, please contact us. In order to receive a tax deduction for this year, your financial gift needs to be made by December 31, 2016. Thank you! YEAR-END GIFT
