Finishing The School Year Strong
Students at Kitale School enjoy safe water between classes.
Now that the students no longer suffer from waterborne illness, they no longer miss their classes because they feel sick or have to spend time getting treatments at the local hospital. The school is no longer faced with a daunting medical cost, and can now use that money on elsewhere.
“We are also enjoying the school environment because it is more peaceful. There are no students rushing to and fro in search of water,” Scholastica, a teacher, explained; previously, students fought over what little water the school had available for use.
Scholastica is grateful for the safe water that has changed her students' lives.
Scholastica has been holding classes at the school where she teaches the students proper health and hygiene practices, including how to properly wash one’s hands. She’s proud of the change that she’s seen in her students.
“The students’ hygiene has changed. Their uniforms are clean and so are the washrooms and classes. This has boosted their self-confidence.”
Full of confidence and dreams for the future, the students of Kitale School will be part of a brighter future for Kenya.
