Day of Caring
Volunteers from Charleston Water Systems work on landscaping.
Eager to help, volunteers worked on three main projects: painting our production area, organizing our marketing materials, and giving our landscape a much needed makeover. You can see them hard at work in this video from local news station Live5!
The morning began with founder George Greene III giving an overview of Water Missions International’s mission. Afterwards volunteers divided up into groups and got to work. “I hadn’t heard of Water Missions before,” one volunteer explained, “but we’ve learned a lot coming here and helping out.”
Volunteers from Blackbaud, Inc. put the finishing touches on the new paint job.
As the morning went on and temperatures rose, volunteers got down and dirty as they planted, mulched, and painted. “It’s better than work, right,” another volunteer joked after painting left him covered in white splatters. “It’s great getting to help out.”
We’re so grateful to all of the volunteers who came out on Friday and worked through the heat to help make our facility better, and for everyone who volunteered in the Charleston area through Trident United Way.
