COVID-19 Update: Dispatches From Vulnerable Communities
Through the prayers and generosity of our faithful supporters, Water Mission continually provides safe water, sanitation, and hygiene solutions to help combat COVID-19 around the world. Water Mission has installed handwashing stations in 10 countries as of June 2020. In many of these countries, a majority of the population does not have soap, safe water, or facilities for handwashing. Without such resources, communities are at a significantly higher risk of virus transmission.
The graph above shows how many handwashing stations Water Mission has installed since the COVID-19 pandemic began. By the end of the year, we plan to install hundreds more handwashing stations that are designed to meet often-overlooked needs.
The chart above shows settings where Water Mission, in collaboration with the Poul Due Jensen Foundation and the Pentair Foundation, has installed more than 900 handwashing stations as of June 2020. For example, in Indonesia, our team conceptualized and constructed handwashing stations that meet wheelchair accessibility needs.
Before, during, and after health crises like COVID-19, safe water, sanitation, and hygiene solutions remain as vital resources. With you, we can respond to God’s call to protect and restore the health of men, women, and children around the world.
