Couple Includes Safe Water on Wedding Registry
When newlyweds Ryan and Kelly Boyer met at Clemson University, they had no idea that their love for each other would soon help provide safe water projects for people around the world. After connecting at a local house church Ryan led, they began to build a deep and loving relationship that would soon blossom into an engagement and then marriage.
It was their respective love for Jesus Christ that first attracted them to each other, and that compelled them to use their wedding celebration as a means to give back to His kingdom. “We felt that with the kingdom of heaven so often being compared to a wedding banquet and the church being called the bride of Christ, it was ridiculous not to give back in some way through our wedding. We wanted Christ to be the center of all of it, including gifts,” Ryan explained. In addition to a standard gift registry, they also created a gift registry page where people could donate to Water Missions International (WMI).
Ryan and Kelly were familiar with the work of Water Missions International through their church in Clemson, Downtown Community Fellowship, which has partnered with WMI on projects over the last few years. They also know several WMI staff members who work out of our international headquarters in Charleston. “We know their hearts and their love of the Lord and want to support their work in sharing the gospel. We also appreciate that WMI strives to be Biblically based in meeting both physical and spiritual needs,” Ryan said.
Ryan and Kelly married on June 1 and look forward to finishing their last year of Clemson together as newlyweds. They are very excited about the funds raised through their gift registry for Water Missions International, but hope to do more. “We also are planning to send WMI a donation from the two of us after we look at our monetary gifts and leftover wedding budget in the next couple of weeks,” Ryan mentioned. Just as they explained in their online registry, the donation in honor of their wedding will be used to provide safe water and sanitation as well as the hope of the Gospel to people around the world.
We thrive off of the creative ways our supporters raise funds for Water Missions International. If you are interested in hosting your own campaign, please visit http://www.kintera.org/faf/home/default.asp?ievent=1036768 to learn how you can fund raise for safe water projects around the world.
