Brought to you by the sun - and our WMI volunteers!
Last week was a true illustration of how important our volunteers and strategic partners are at Water Missions International. In just one week, 140 volunteers came together to install one of the largest solar arrays in South Carolina to power our new facility in North Charleston. Funds that would have gone towards a power bill will now go directly into safe water treatment solutions. Amazingly, volunteers installed 450 solar panels along with associated wiring and racking. Thank you for making that possible!
Volunteers also worked tirelessly to make our new facility beautiful. With their help, we:
- Tore down old fencing
- Lined the property with flower beds made by 450 railroad ties donated by S.C. Public Railway
- Spread ten dump-truck loads of fill and topsoil donated by Murray Sand Company
- Painted our parking lot and exterior walls with 70 gallons of paint and stain courtesy of Plantation Painters, Inc.
- Created an inspiring environment for our tour space
- Built shelves to organize materials
- Painted our entrance - and joyfully tackled every project we dreamed up for the week!
