Proverbs 21:5 says, “The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance, but everyone who is hasty comes only to poverty.” Wise planning requires making decisions for the long term, and there are many informed ways you can optimize your support of Water Mission’s work. A couple with a long history of supporting Water Mission’s work learned that the US Congress began mandating required minimum distributions (RMDs) on IRA accounts for taxpayers starting at age 73. Utilizing this knowledge, the couple was happy to discover this was a way they could give to bless their global neighbors. “After years of giving cash gifts, we now give a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) through our RMD. We feel we are being good financial stewards of what God has blessed us with by giving in this manner. We are thankful we can help more young girls like Vanesa. With safe water in her community, she no longer has to take long walks to gather unsafe water and has time to focus on her studies.” 16-year-old Vanesa in Mankhaka Dwangwa, Malawi, used to walk nearly two miles each day for water.
