6 Ways to Give Joy This Christmas

December 17, 2014
At Water Mission, we've discovered that joy sometimes comes packaged differently than you might expect. Think solar panels, concrete latrines, and guys on motorcycles delivering water. A little different, right? Below are six ways you can give joy this holiday season with impacts that stretch a lifetime.
1. Give a family the joy of dignity.
Give a family the joy of dignity | Healthy Latrines Lack of proper sanitation severely compromises the health and dignity of people around the world. Besides obvious health benefits, a Healthy Latrine™ provides dignity and safety to women and young girls who must otherwise walk long distances, often in the dark, for privacy. Give dignity through household latrines.
2. Sustain joy with the gift of solar power.
Give a community the joy of easily maintaining their safe water project. | Solar Panels Solar power may be in vogue, but it’s also a key player in developing sustainable projects in the field. Gifting solar power for our safe water solutions lessens the burden of operational costs to keep a system running by harnessing green energy from an unlimited source. Added bonus: it also offers a power source to charge devices like batteries, lanterns, and mobile phones. Invest in sustainability through solar power.
3. Give joy through training and education.
Give a community the joy of educating their neighbors. | WASH Promotion Providing a community with safe water is just one part of the process. To encourage use of that safe water, education is key. In WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) promotion, community members teach their neighbors about healthy sanitation and hygiene practices like hand washing. Impact generations through proper health education.
4. Give joy to a family this Christmas season.
Give a family access to safe water. | Water for a Family Access to safe water does more than quench thirst and improve health. Families are given the freedom to thrive with healthy bodies and renewed hope for the future. Women and children no longer need to spend hours every day fetching water that will ultimately make them sick. Parents can divert money spent on clinic visits to food and school fees. Kids can focus on their studies, and moms are given more time to seek new opportunities for their families. Bring families together through easy access to safe water.
5. Give joy through innovative delivery methods of safe water to those in need.
Give distant community members access to safe water. | Safe Water Delivery Have you ever wondered how people get water in countries without household water and faucets? Well, thinking about it is our job. In addition to centrally located tap stands, we invest in the best distribution method for each community. Sometimes this is guys on bikes delivering a load of safe water to the elderly, handicapped, and those distant from the community. Invest in innovative ways to delivery safe water.
6. Give joy to one person through the gift of safe water this Christmas.
Give the simple, lasting joy that safe water brings. | Safe Water for Life Supplying cups of clean water, that’s what we’re about. But realize that when we provide safe water, it’s not just a temporary fix to a problem. It’s a lifetime solution, meaning no more hours spent walking to fetch dirty water, no more sick children and fatigued bodies, and no more struggling to simply survive. Invest in safe water for life.
