Celebrating the Life of Molly Greene: A Life of Purpose
Her legacy continues to inspire us to bring safe water and God’s love to people around the world. Her son and Water Mission President and CEO George Greene, IV said in a statement from the family on July 18, 2019:
No words can describe this heartbreaking loss for our family… We know that a larger global family mourns with us and celebrates her life, as she blessed so many around the world.
Missing her greatly, we reflect on one of her favorite passages in scripture:
I have set the LORD always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken. Therefore, my heart is glad, and my whole being rejoices; my flesh also dwells secure.
Molly with friends
As we continue in our work of bringing safe water and Jesus’ love to all, we hold Molly dear to our hearts and we walk the way Molly walked: through faith and not by sight. We celebrate her legacy and rejoice that she is now face-to-face with Christ.
It is Molly’s faith that anchored her through many chapters of her life, from growing up in Mississippi, to raising a family, to building an international ministry that has blessed millions of people around the world. Molly will always be remembered as a woman of prayer—someone who lived and led with guidance from the Lord. Her many accomplishments were only surpassed by her undeniably strong faith. Molly wrote in a Water Mission blog post about the National Day of Prayer:
Without prayer, we wouldn’t just be lost — we would be amiss. Our vision is to see all people have access to safe water and an opportunity to experience God’s love. And our mission of ending the global water crisis can seem insurmountable, but we face this work with the power of prayer.
In a letter to family and friends, her husband wrote, “Molly was a beautiful soul who lived a life full of purpose and calling, and her sudden departure has broken many hearts.”
Molly’s life was an embodiment of the Great Commandments to love the Lord our God with all our heart, all our soul, all our mind, and all our strength, and to love our neighbors as ourselves. While we grieve, we are comforted to know that Molly is with her Lord and Savior.
But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep.
The overwhelming outpouring of love and kindness has been a testament to her legacy: one that will touch many lives in the years to come.
