Water Mission is growing at a rapid pace with new, exciting opportunities on the horizon. We’re eager to find people who are passionate about ending the global water crisis, which currently impacts 2.2 billion people worldwide.
Over the past few years, our Charleston, South Carolina, headquarters has grown to more than 70 staff members and serves as a strategic center for nine country programs and disaster response initiatives in other areas of the world. Our team is full of compassionate individuals who love what they do and are passionate about furthering God’s kingdom through the gift of safe water. In 2019, Water Mission was awarded the Best Christian Workplace certification by Best Christian Workplace Institute.
“Being recognized as a Best Christian Workplace is an honor,” said Water Mission CEO, George C. Greene IV. “Our hope is that each staff member grows personally and professionally while glorifying God through their work.”
As our Charleston office continues to grow, it’s our goal to hire individuals who embody the values of love, excellence, and integrity, which will help us foster a fun, energetic, and Christ-centered workplace. These values were integral when Water Mission was founded in 2001 and are still the backbone to how we approach our work today.
“At Water Mission, my passions and skills overlap,” said Julia Sherry, a program evaluation specialist. “I love the actual content of my job, and the work I do every day, but I am also very passionate about safe water and seeing lives transformed through safe water and the gospel. I also love getting to work alongside staff all around the world on a daily basis.”
With more than 10 specialized departments based out of our Charleston office, we are seeking to fill positions in events and engagement, investor partnerships, marketing and communications, and more!
Each department is working on several notable initiatives:
- Events & Engagement is launching a new high-impact volunteer program
- Investor Partnerships is strategically growing relationships with key individuals and partners around the world
- Human Resources (HR) is creating a global HR infrastructure that empowers and supports staff in 10 countries and major disaster areas
- Leadership is collaborating on the development of the Global Water Center (more on that below)
- Marketing & Communications is developing an integrated communications and advocacy program that engages the public in ending the global water crisis PR
In January, Water Mission’s leadership team welcomed Chris Holdorf, former CEO of the National Christian Foundation, as the executive director of the Global Water Center – a new nonprofit organization within the water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) sector.
“The vision of the Global Water Center is to see 2,200,000,000, the number of people who lack access to sustainable safe water, become zero,” Holdorf said. “In the process, access to physical water becomes the means to Living Water, for God’s glory.”
Serving as a resource for the global WASH community, the Global Water Center is a separate entity to Water Mission but co-located in Charleston. Its purpose is to rapidly scale the world’s efforts to bring safe water to everyone in need.
“Our two-pronged strategy is to implement best-in-class safe water and sanitation projects and be a resource to other organizations engaged in this work,” said George Greene III, Water Mission co-founder and board chair of the Global Water Center.
During this time of expansion, we can’t help but express our excitement in seeking staff members who are eager to grow with us through both Water Mission and the Global Water Center.
As the body of Christ, we are called to further His kingdom by using the gifts He has blessed us with. For us, it’s working to end the global water crisis. We’re excited to see who God continues to call into this impactful ministry.
