
Douglas Lawson, P. E.

Regional Director, Kenya, Malawi, and Uganda
Doug graduated from Clemson University in 2000 with a bachelor’s degree in biosystems engineering. He has 19 years of engineering experience in water, wastewater, stormwater, and site design. During his career, he has served as a project manager and engineer on water and wastewater design projects totaling more than $50 million USD. Doug has been a licensed professional engineer since 2006. He moved to Uganda in 2013 to work with Water Mission as the senior engineer and technical supervisor. In 2017, he was promoted to Regional Director for the Kenya and Malawi programs and has recently taken on leadership over the Uganda program.
As Interim Country Director and Regional Director, Doug acts as a liaison between the Water Mission Headquarters in Charleston, SC, and our field staff to provide technical guidance, financial planning, and oversight, and to ensure adherence to Water Mission’s mission, vision, standards, and values. Additionally, he currently serves as the interim Country Director for Water Mission Uganda. Doug lives in Naivasha, Kenya, with his wife and two children.
