Statement from Water Mission on the Passing of Fred Boyo Kipyegon, Night Security Guard, in Kitale, Kenya
Request for prayers as police investigation continues

N. Charleston, S.C. —June 22, 2021– With heavy hearts, Water Mission, a nonprofit Christian engineering organization, is saddened to announce the passing of Fred Boyo Kipyegon, a night security guard who was killed during a robbery of its office in Kitale, Kenya. Water Mission staff are actively working with local authorities, and a police investigation is ongoing.

“We are devasted by this loss, and our heart breaks for Fred’s family. He was a dedicated team member who carried out his work with love, excellence, and integrity, helping to bring safe water to thousands in Kenya. He was a friend to many of our staff and will be dearly missed. While we grieve, we are comforted to know that Fred loved the Lord and is in the arms of his heavenly Father. Please pray for Fred’s wife, children, and our Kenya team,” said George C. Greene IV, PE, CEO and President of Water Mission.

Water Mission builds safe water, sanitation, and hygiene solutions in developing nations and disaster areas. To date, Water Mission has served nearly 7 million people in 57 countries with more than 2,800 safe water projects. Water Mission’s Kenya office employs 26 people and has served more than 350,000 people with safe water, sanitation, and hygiene solutions. Water Mission remains committed to bringing safe and Living Water to those in need in Kenya and around the world.

Friends and partners who would like to share their condolences are invited to write a message of remembrance to communications@watermission.org or send it to Water Mission’s Headquarters at 1150 Molly Greene Way, Building 1605, N. Charleston, SC 29405.
